How long is the program?

It is an eight-month program that runs Tuesday through Friday, from 9 am to 4:15 pm.

How many students are in the class?

Our student max is 16 students

How many class intakes are there per year?

One per year.

What is the age range of the students participating in the program?

We have a wonderful diversity of age ranges in our program, from eighteen to fifty-five
years old. The diversity of experiences and perspectives in a classroom create a very rich learning environment.

What is the passing grade?

Students must achieve at least 70% on all theory and practical. As well students must
successfully complete a quota of treatments in the practical experience.

Is there a lot of homework?

If you keep up with the class during class time there isn’t a lot of homework other than
the study time to prepare for the quizzes, unit exams and projects that are throughout
the program.

Is this program eligible for student loans?

Yes

Of the 810 hours how many are practical and how many are theory?

Approximately it is 500 hours of practical and 310 hours of theory.

Do you qualify for the Beauty Council license after receiving your Certificate?

Yes, although the license exam is not part of the curriculum or mandatory. (Has a
separate fee and is separate from VIU).

Are students finding jobs once they have completed the program?

Students that have graduated from the program are working in various spas and salons
all over BC and Alberta.

What are the prerequisites to the program?

Grade 12 or equivalent or mature student status. Minimum 17 years of age.
