Lesley Osborne, Chair and Instructor, Esthetics
Lesley comes to us with over 30 years’ of experience in the field of Esthetics and Electrolysis. Lesley has been an owner-operator of a salon in Parksville for over 25 years, with this she brings content expertise as well as extensive management and business experience. Her educational background includes a diploma in Esthetics, certificate in Electrolysis and a Provincial Instructor Diploma. Lesley has been an instructor for VIU for seven years bringing experience and knowledge to this position. It is extremely important to Lesley that VIU’s Esthetics Certificate is well known for its high quality and excellence. She is excited to share her knowledge in the field of esthetics that is energizing, rewarding and fulfilling.
Shannon M
Shannon’s passion for the spa industry initially sparked in 2001, when her mom received a gift certificate in a silver fabric envelope for a luxury spa. This created an intense desire to learn all she could about the field of esthetics over the next 8 years, before deciding to pursue her Advanced Esthetics Certificate in 2009, where she subsequently earned the Academic Achievement Award.
Following completion of the program in 2010, she also earned a certificate in ‘La Stone Therapy’ (which is a form of hot/cold stone massage). Shannon then became employed at a local day spa in Alberta and in addition to her skill set as a talented esthetician, Shannon successfully owned and operated her own esthetics studio.
Shannon’s thirst for success brought her into a national position in the spa industry where she has been working closely with leaders from across the nation for nearly 6 years.
She has enjoyed her first year as an Esthetics Instructor at Vancouver Island University and was also recently sought after as an educator for the Esthetique Spa International Show.
Shannon has nearly finished her Certificate in Spa Management, and is also currently pursuing completion of her Provincial Instructors Diploma.
Shannon’s deep appreciation of the industry and dedication to her passion for ‘all things spa’ establish her as a valuable asset to the instructional team.
