VIU has partnered with Okanagan College to make part-time online MOA training available for Vancouver Island students.
How the Okanagan and VIU partnership works
If you live on Vancouver Island, you can take classes online at Okanagan College. Then you can do the 90-hour practicum portion in your home community.
You can receive transfer credit at Okanagan College if you have taken VIU’s Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology course in the past two years.
Okanagan College program details
The Medical Office Assistant program at Okanagan College is a 9-month part-time program. The online classes are delivered on a set schedule, so you must be able available during class times.
Admission requirements
- grade 12 or equivalent
- English 12 with a 60% or higher
- evidence of a negative tuberculin test no more than six months before program start date (or evidence of follow-up on a positive test)
- A criminal record check clearance from the B.C. Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General's Criminal Records Review Office. Okanagan College's admission offices will provide applicants with instructions and forms after you’ve applied.
